They did not disappoint

I look forward to seeing them every year.

Some a little taller

Always lots of happy smiles,

A new little face,

Now what to do with the left over candy?

Happy rest of the week my dear friends.

  1. Dear Gina - Sadly the first two photos did not appear for me, but the last two are gorgeous. What an enormous amount of trouble they have gone to in working on their appearance.
I was at my youngest son's house last evening, and he had at least 6 knocks on the door from different groups. My favourite ones were the little ones who should perhaps have been in bed.

  2. Dear Rosemary, Sorry about the photos not showing up. Probably because I was making a correction. Should be fixed by now. The little ones are my favorites also. Yes, they should probably be in bed but they are so excited that sleep would probably not come for a while.

  3. Dear Gina, what great costumes and fine make-up. How lucky to have such pretty visitors. We had a steady flow of goblins last night, but only
to the front door. Alas, I still have plenty of candy left over and one has been already "vernascht" and it is barely 9 am....................oh, well.
Have a fine chocolate-filled weekend, Sieglinde

    1. Dear Sieglinde, This family stops by every year. I always look forward to their visit. I never know what to expect. And all of the costumes are home made.
Ich habe meine süssen sachen von mir versteckt. And I'm taking them to a house with lots of children.

  4. Dear Gina, The costumes are great, and the photographs could very well be reference material for an equally great painting. I'm sure each of these children will retain special memories of you and your house, even as I still have particular memories from Halloweens of long ago.

    1. Dear Mark, Judging by their smiling faces these little goblins are always happy to stop by our house. They tell us that we are always first in line. Some years this group is the only party which comes for a visit but this year we had many more.
You're right that first photo would make an interesting painting.

  5. If my guess is correct, you have a very talented costume mistress who resides nearby! I would have loved to have had that group stop at my house last night! Loved those Harlequinn/Zombie(?) costumes and, personally, I want that pink rose wig! Can you tell me how you think it was made? Was it pink foam rubber??? That youngest costume was so glitzy!!! F U N!!!

And, Mark is right! How much fun would that last photo be to have on a set of dessert plates in various forms???

    1. Dear Mary, I will try and find out about the rose wig. It was quite overpowering in color and design. Have not seen anything like it anywhere.

    2. I have searched online and I found that the wig was designed by Chris Match (or March?) for Target along with some other wild and crazy wigs! But, since you saw it; what kind of material do you propose it was made of? Thank you, Gina!

    3. Hello Mary, It looked like it was made from foam rubber. I didn't pay much attention to the wig because I was so involved with the little ones. I will find out. The wearer of the wig is a friend and owns the local café, the only café in town and by the way, she and her sister serve the very best German and American food.

    4. Any café that serves fabulous German food will be on my radar when I get down to one of your painting classes! Thanks in advance for your detective work on the wig!

    5. Hi Mary, After voting today Mr G took me out to lunch at "Das Café" The wig came from Target and it is made of foam rubber. Now, I would like to know where you are going to wear it?

  6. What a treat to see these little ones in full regalia! Leftover candy...should never be a problem.

Last night's NYC Halloween Parade began its sprawl up Sixth Avenue from a location not far from my workplace. So...when I left work last night and made my way to the subway, I saw lots and lots of costumed folks of many ages on their way over to join the parade. Back in the last century (I do love that expression) when this parade had its origins, it was a very meandering walk through quieter streets of the West Village. I sort of preferred that calmer mood. The costumes were just as crazy or creative, but the media coverage and commercial sponsors were yet to come.

    Memory lane. xo

    1. Dear Frances, "Back in the last century" is a phrase I also like. So many holidays were not rushed upon us as they are now. Time flies by too fast as it is.

  7. I'm so behind with everything, sorry this is late, but just had to tell you that I was so impressed by these kids' costumes and makeup. What a fabulous Halloween that must have been - love, love your pics dear.

    Happy days - Mary

  8. Dear Mary, I am also late, late in responding because we have been away on a little trip. I can always count on this particular family to make our Halloween special.
