Hello dear Friends, I'm back.

A little while ago I introduced you to Kientzheim

A very small village in the Alsace of France. While there we had only a little glimpse into the very next village.  It was so charming that we just had to go back for another look.

So here is another little jewel, Kaysersberg, only a few kilometers down the road.

It is the area in between the two towns where the real story is told.

It is all about the famous wines and special gastronomy along the
Routes des vins d'Alsace.

There are many more stories to tell...they will have to wait for another day.

Thank you dear friends for visiting.

Gina

    1. Hello Karen, We didn't find Schweinehaxe in Memmingen but would not have visited this beautiful town if you hadn't posted such lovely pictures. Did you stop in Bolzano and see the fabulous Iceman exhibit?

  2. Dear Gina,
it is wonderful to have you back and with such lovely photos of a great region. During our trip to France we spent one night in Kaysersberg
at a small hotel where the first thing I asked for was a piece of Gugelhupf. To be there in the fall must have been just so beautiful and I hope you will share lots of colorful pictures.
    Many warm greetings, Sieglinde

    1. Dear sieglinde, The colors throughout the central part of europe were more beautiful then I remember from previous visits. And yes, we had a piece of Gugelhupf one fine afternoon with an excellent cup of coffee. The two are a must when visiting the area.

  3. Welcome home Gina, and thanks for this lovely preview of what I do hope will be more beautiful views and descriptions of the part of France that you visited. One of my NYC friend's mother was from this part of the world and I think he will also love seeing your posts.

    1. Dear Frances, There is never enough time to see all of the beautiful places of this particular region. Driving a car is the best way to see the lovely villages and gorgeous colors of the ripening vines.

  5. The Elzas is a wonderful area to travel around and Kientzheim such a rustic place reminding a bit of old days. Looking forward to more....

    1. Hello Janneke, The scenes of the Alsace were particularly beautiful this time. The many vistas of the ripening vines were truly spectacular. Some of the late grapes were just being harvested for the Spätläse wines.

  6. Oh my dear friend, so happy we both saw beautiful places on our recent journeys - and now happy to be safely home so we can communicate again!
We arrived back Sat., me bringing the tail end of a beastly cold (those European versions are always worse than ours it seems), but getting better now and catching up with all requiring attention. We were blessed with wonderful weather all 3.5 weeks, hope you were too. These photos are lovely - like you, I will be sharing more soon once caught up!

    Huge hugs - Mary

    1. Dear Mary, I look forward to seeing more photos of your adventures. I was so envious that you were able to take those barge trips through France. Have always been curious about the idea. Can't wait to see, what I know will be great photographs, of that particular experience.
So sorry that you had to bring back a cold. The same happened to me. I guess one can't get away from it when being exposed to so many situations and people.
We are having the most wonderful weather. So unheard of that we have not had a night of frost. Now I don't have to feel guilty about leaving my garden, but can preserve some of the last vegetables.
