My Corner "Studio"

Forecast, 5 more inches of snow today

Soon we will have a large celebration in our little town. I must think of new ideas for my Sale. The warrior will become a plaque. Right now he wears only Italian pigments. See the large uneven, yellowish spots? Those are created with wax resist. It is supposed to make this plaque appear to be centuries old, that is, once it is glazed and fired in my kiln. It is the unpredictable that makes painting ceramics so exciting.

This is where I paint. In a small corner of my kitchen. I never feel left out, life goes on all around me. My dogs come by and keep me company. The smell of cooking and baking surrounds me and when I get tired, all I have to do is lift my eyes.

It really doesn't take up much room.

All of my supplies come from Italy. A good excuse to plan another trip.

Gina

  2. Hi Gina, I LOVE seeing your work space – how warm and inspiring! Thinking of places in my home to use some of your pieces. I also love the new header! (Maybe add your blog name? Let me know if you need a hand with that.) Have a great week. Georgianna

  3. Hi Georgianna, if you don't live too far from my place you can come and I will teach you how to paint a few ceramic pieces for your home.

I would love a little help. Great idea to add my blog name to the header.

Thank you for being so kind.

  4. Dear Ines, what I meant to say in your comments was, that in the BYW class, under Forums and then subcategory FLCKR, it was mentioned that one could create a "Test Blog". Then you could play around in this test blog without losing information on your "real blog". I created a test blog this morning and fooled around with it. It was a great learning experience.
As you can see my blog has a new header. My husband doesn't like it. Maybe it will grow on him. And, I can always come up with a new header, now that I know how to change it.

  5. Hi Gina, Oo, I would be honored to come to your place and learn to paint ceramics! I'm in Seattle, however, so that might not work right now! But I'm happy to help with your header if you still need/want it. I've wrestled with blogger for a few years now and it can be tamed! Just let me know...

  6. Hi Georgianna, Seattle is not so far away. You never know what reason might bring you this direction. I go to Italy every year to paint ceramics.

Blogger is a new challenge and yes, I would so appreciate a little help. In the meantime, I think that I will to go back to my initial "Header", only make it a little larger. Thank you for offering your help, it is very reassuring to know that I can come to you for assistance.

  7. Hi Gina... Following your posting on Slow Talk.
How very kind of you to make that offer,It would be so nice to be able to take it up this year..but, right now, I fear not!. I would like to think that at some time in the future Lin and I would be able to pop in and see you even if we didnt stay. Lin would be facinated to see close at hand the wonderful work that you create. Just the photos are absolutely beautiful. I love all the color. Warm regards. . .John & Lin UK

  8. Dear John and Lin, You are welcome any time. I know that you love the Southwest. And as fellow travelers we would have lots to talk about.

Our Guest Cottage is separate from the main house. Our friends call it the "enchanted cottage". Keep my name on file and don't be shy and let us know when you come this way.

    Regards,
    Gene and Gina

  13. Gina, I love your workspace right in the kitchen. I'm regularly shuffling projects off our kitchen table so we can eat there, and then shuffling them back on. I totally relate to loving being in the middle of it all.

ps- got my Fancy Feet this week. I LOVE IT! Thanks!

  14. The kitchen is where I work too, but I'd love to have a proper space with a DOOR. Where in Italy do you get your supplies? Do you have them mailed?

  15. Hi Francesca, Kitchens are great for projects aren't they.

I purchase my supplies from Deruta in Italy. Some of my supplies come from the Scuola d' Arte.

There isalso a fabulous Colorobbia shop in Deruta. It is on the street that takes you up to the old town center.

Powder pigments last a long time. So far, I have not had any trouble bringing them into this country. I always have other painting supplies, such as special brushes, with me. That usually explains what the strange looking little plastic bags hold.
