Gina, the more that I study your mystery figures, the more I believe that they are the Magi. Look at their missing hangs. They were each holding something in a gesture of presentation.

Dear Karen, Sometimes it's better not to know. I can imagine and dream up all sorts of stories about them. No matter, they will always be special to me. Yet, to know a little more about them would be great.

Dear Sharon, No doubt you run into many mysteries in your quest for special pieces while scouring the brocantes. Those are your rewards for getting up at the crack of dawn.
ReplyDeleteDear Mark, You may be correct. You certainly made an interesting observation. For some reason I have always thought that they belonged to a much larger group. The mostly black figure is carrying an infant on his back and in a sling. Two of the figurines have arms straight down their sides (can't tell about the third). Would you not think that when presenting a gift, it would be held with both hands? And what about the infanat in the sling? Still, your Magi theory is a strong possibility.
