So do the Lambs.
Our Farmer friend watches each Yew carefully.
Most of his sheep will give birth in the next 2 weeks.
Some have come early. Mostly triplets.
Yews and their Lambs all wear the same red numbers for a little while. Yews sometimes have to be convinced that they can take care of twins and even triplets.
A few years ago Mr G and I were asked to do the lambing for only one day. It was hard work. We're not standing in line to sign up for the job.

This little fellow is very happy receiving a little extra care. Our Farmer friend knows how to hold them just so. They are perfectly comfortable being tucked under his arm with their little feet dangling in the air.
Soon they will all go up to the mountains where they will spend the summer
in the high alpine meadows.

The lambs all look adorable, and the one in the last photo — with its ears sticking out — reminds me of one of my own childhood photos!

DeleteI love lambs! I remember taking my son to a farm, for an open day, and witnessing a ewe giving birth to a baby lamb. My son passed out, actually, but I though that what we had seen was truly fantastic!

Dear Anna, What an experience for your son! Birthing is a bit of an eye opener. I'm not surprised that it affected your son that way.
DeleteYes, I would believe it. It is 19 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. Much too cold for this time of year.
These photos are beyond cute, Gina. Absolutely precious and so good to know they get such special treatment. I wouldn't volunteer either but I would love to see this first hand.

Dear Georgianna, Newborn lambs may the cutest of all young animals. What pictures don't show is how much fun they have with each other. Jumping in the air for no reason at all and having fun being alive. I know of a young lady, from a small town nearby, who takes beautiful photographs of young lambs. She sells hundreds of her photos on Etsy. Something to think about? ox, Gina
