Good Morning.


A calorie conscious, well known Chef, asked his television audience:
what would you omit, the butter or the preserves from your toast? 


In unison, they all duty fully responded:  the butter, of course.






Preserves only.





No Thank You!  I would rather have none.






I must have butter on my toast AND my home-made preserves.







It's what I look forward to.  Every morning, a cup of coffee and a piece of toast with a moderate amount of unsalted butter and a BIG dollop of my home - made preserves.

      Us girls know what we like. Homemade marmalade is also my favorite. I love that sharp taste of the orange rind.

  2. Your art work on your pottery pieces are so beautiful. Better than how the Italians do it! Where did you find those fabulous canning labels. I have searched for years for labels that beautiful.

      Thank you for your lovely compliment. I love painting ceramics.

      As far as the labels are concerned...nothing could be easier. You won't find them anywhere because they are originals. I print them myself using images from my painted ceramics and also images from my garden.

      All you have to do is tell me what designs you like or what you are canning and I will make them specially for you. I will charge a small fee for covering printing costs.

      My labels are not self adhesive. I use watered down Elmer's glue to affix them to the bottles. Let me know if you are interested and I will prepare a listing for you in my Etsy shop.

      It take a good dollop to get it just right. And it must be unsalted butter and it would be nice if the loaf of bread just came out of the oven.

      I have enjoyed your beautiful photographs. And I need to learn to be more patient and let the bread rise overnight. I always thought that dough needed to be kept warm but I find out that it just isn't so. Thanks for the lesson.

  6. Yes, butter and preserves. AND eggs, and some seasoned potatoes, and probably some sautéed mushrooms. I am cleaning house today and I need the calories to keep me in motion!! Thanks for adding your home-made sweetness to Mosaic Monday!

      Vielen Dank. I make my own labels from images that come mostly from my ceramics. I print eight images at one time and then glue them onto glass jars with a very ordinary glue that easily can be removed with water for the next season.

  8. Butter is essential to happiness... preserves... when homemade, are the divine topping! Yours look as beautiful as I am sure they taste. Someday I might have time to make preserves again.... yours are certainly inspiring!

    1. Hello Daydreamer,
      The thing about preserves is to not think about making more than you can eat in a week or two. Make small batches. Add sugar to fruit (nothing else) and cook for about an hour. It's done. Make one jar at a time.

    sometimes I have to do without butter for a little while for a variety of reasons.Then it is just preserves on my bread.But, of course, butter is that wonderful addition to bring the taste of good bread and the preserve together.Lovely cups and plates and so are your labels.

      You have more willpower than I have. I need to toughen up a bit. My labels are so easy to make. A printer, ordinary paper and a little glue is all you need. They dress up a lot of things and make wonderful gifts.
