A Complete About Face

From "Too much is not enough" to Minimalist

I could see it coming.  Christmas is to blame, I think.

There is always so much color

I've been painting simple plates

The kind that only take ten minutes to paint.

See the Ladybugs?

Less than an hour to paint but almost 20 hours to fire and cool.

So, what do you think?  Should I go back to my Gypsy Ways?

Love to you All, my Dear Blogging Friends,

Gina

  1. Hi, Gina! Here's what I think: you should market these plates through very high-end department stores, and I would start at Neiman-Marcus. You have an idea that is both charming and sophisticated, and I think it should be marketed in a big way!

  3. I think you are right on trend!
I recently purchased a serving bowl to use at Christmas that was pure white with just a very little bit of decoration (beading on the edge of the top) because it was just so pure and clean-looking.

    Spot on!

  4. Gina, I agree with Mark that these minimal pieces with those enticing little glimpses of ladybugs would find a warm welcome at N-M.

(All the same, I love the gypsy OTT designs where color and patterns dance all over their ceramic canvas. Thank you also for your reply to my prior comment. I would love to seek out a place to try my own hand. Perhaps some day I might be lucky enough to have you as a teacher!)

    Best wishes.

  7. Dear Mark, I am so flattered that you like my new design. If I were younger I would go for it because these simple designs are so easy to paint. Instead, I will paint a few more and see how they go in our Annual Heritage Days Celebration Sale.

  8. Dear Rosemary, If you all knew how very easy it is to paint your own dishes, you would go to work immediately. There are studious everywhere who will halp you get started.

  9. Hi German Gems, Ladybugs and bees are my best sellers. They're easy to paint and they appeal to almost everyone.

  13. Dear Georgianna, I'm thinking that you should definitely consider teaching your photography workshop to help us novices become better at picture taking.
And thank you also for your lovely compliment. Gina

  14. Oh Gina I love these new designs...but I like the more traditional ones too...so for me a mix of the two is just about perfect!

  17. Hi Jermaine, A mix is always a good idea. That way the person painting doesnt get bored.

  18. Dear Theresa, I lean more towards the traditional stuff myself. Maybe i will try an in-between idea next.
