  1. What a joy to have Gina - baby ducklings are so pretty. It is amazing how independent they are so quickly - ducking and diving straight away.

  2. Hello Gina

Those babies are just adorable. I always worry for their safety. They are so vulnerable out there as babies paddling away. What a vista to behold

  3. Dear Gina,
apologies for my last comments on your previous post. I thought that you were in Italy! I read it again and see the photos were taken last October.

How lucky to have the pond at the bottom of your garden. The little ducklins are so so sweet, amazing how they swim and follow mum straight away.

    wishing you a happy wednesday

  4. Dear Rosemary, We are keeping our fingers crossed. So many little ducklings don't make it. These are wild and that they even hatched without the racoons finding the eggs first is a miracle.

  5. Dear Helen, I too worry for their safety. An eagle has been sitting in one our trees near the pond. Not so long ago we had more than 200 ducks on our pond...the predators have changed all that.

  6. Dear Linda, We are lucky to own this wonderful property. It is good for the soul to step out every morning and have nothing but nature all around us.

  7. Dear Val, It is I who must apologize. I added the fact that I took the pictures last October after I read your comment.
The little ducklings are so sweet...they chase after bugs on the pond's surface with lightning speed while their mother keeps an eye on them.

  8. Hello, Gina - Your little ducklings are very fortunate not to have been born here in Florida. Baby ducks are a favorite meal of egrets, and few survive!!

  9. Well Mark, It is true that we don't have egrets, but we do have raccoons. All 5 ducklings have disappeared and their parents are looking for them. That only means one thing, those damn raccoons attacked the nest during the night. How very sad.

  10. Too sweet! And how beautiful your pond looks - properly spring now, it seems, with all the snow gone from your mountains.

  11. What totally breathtaking pictures!!!!! I am more relaxed already having looked at them!

  12. What little cuties these swimming duckings are! I hope that the entire quintet will continue to explore the waterways together, making beautiful ripples.

  13. Gina, I sure hope those raccoons didn't find the nest. It looked so peaceful in your lake with the Mother Duck and her baby ducklings.

Yesterday afternoon my neighbor warned me that there is a mother raccoon and four babies living under my deck. UGH!

  14. Dear Karen, the pond is the reason we built our house in this very spot. Native Americans also liked this spring fed pond more than a hundred years ago.

  15. Dear Tina, The pond has the same affect on us...we never tire of the view. Wishing you a great remainder of the week.

  17. Dear Mary, I know that some people think that raccoons are cute. I don't. They are mean.
