Peaches and pears are ripe

Must bottle a few for cold winter months.

If you can find the smaller, rosy cheeked, cling free peaches, those are the peaches you will want to can.

A recipe of light syrup (6 cups of sugar to 8 cups of water) is perfect for peaches.  Not too sweet so you can still taste the delicate flavor of an Early Alberta Peach.

Ready to be put away.

Must leave a few to eat au natural.

Have a great remainder of the week my dear friends,

Gina

  1. Dear Gina,
such delectable and mouthwatering peaches. They are also a feast for the eyes, arranged so lovingly in your marvelous, hand painted bowls.
I do not have enough for canning, but made a juicy Peach Crisp on Sunday, with just two peaches and some Blueberries.
    Warm greetings, Sieglinde

  2. Hi Gina, here I am again.
Just went to your link for Refugium and when I scrolled down to a post from Aug.22, a lighthearted dance routine with Fred Astaire presented itself to a tune by Paolo Conte "Via con me". In his own words: "Chips chips du di du di du ci bum ci bum bum"...............really nice.

    1. Dear Sieglinde, Watching Fred Astair dance is the way to start your day. I especially love this French song version. Now I can;t get it out of my head and my feet don't want to stay still.

  4. Dear Gina,

I'm looking at those jarred peaches and thinking that they will make a wonderful dessert with vanilla (or maybe even peach) ice cream. My friend Sandy recently served vanilla ice cream with pomeganate liqueur and it has become a favorite dessert.

    1. Dear Mark, Ice cream is my favorite dessert. I need to find a bottle of pomegranate liqueur, it sounds delicious. Speaking of pomegranates, do I remember a wall painting in Pompeii featuring pomegranates?
