My first Daffodils
and many Hellebore in my garden.
By the time I get back from Italy my field of Daffodils may not be blooming anymore.
I will have missed the entire show.

Thanks to you, dear Gina, I now have Hellebore, that came all the way from Utah, in my garden. I bet in winter they will let me know how they like it here. I just hope they will not get homesick.......

Dear Sieglinde, I see that you have already planted your Hellebore. It will be very interesting to see if your soil will change their colors. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be very successful in growing this pretty flower in your garden.
DeleteGina, thanks for your orchid watering advice. My gifted orchid plant is in beautiful ceramic pot, with no drainage, so I'll keep to the 1/2 cup of weekly water. I do wish that I had a bit more control over this apartment's atmospheric conditions. Yesterday was glorious, and today's much cooler, with gale winds a' blowing. Radiators play catch up.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that your daffs will forgive you this Italian holiday. Coincidentally, after finishing a novel set in Glasgow, I'm now reading one of Donna Leon's detective tales set in Venice. She really does convey a lot of Venetian atmosphere. I am always hungry!

Dear Frances, The only thing that could hurt your orchid is if they are too close to a hot radiator. Because your orchid had new buds that opened on their own it tells me that your orchid will bloom for at least another 3 months.
DeleteThank you, Gina. I've got the orchid on a table that's not too, too close to the radiator. As our spring weather keeps veering from freezing to summertime heat, the radiator's heat also varies...it's centrally controlled, without my input. At a certain point of the afternoon, it gets splendid sun and looks very lovely. To have this flower's charm last for months would be grand. xo

ReplyDeleteDear Rosemary, less than a week and we are off. Judging from how late everything is in my garden I may have a few blooms left. Judging from past trips to Italy in April, we will see plenty of flowers and especially many, many fruit trees in blossom.
