Fashion Police

What you don't know about me.

You don't know what I wear in my garden.

It's not what you think.

I garden in silks. An ankle length frilly silk skirt to be precise.

Can you guess why?

When the wind blows just a little or a lot, the silk flutters in the breezes...
and scares the mosquitoes away.

What do you wear when you garden?

Have a fabulous Sunday, dear Friends,

Gina

  1. I love the colors in your garden.
And I love thinking of you in silks, blowing in the breeze.
    Poor mosquitoes.
    Lucky me.

    1. Hello Rick, This is the time of year when blue skies, white clouds and Spring flowers take the stage. This is also the time when we spend a lot of time outside...may as well do it comfortably.

  2. Dear Gina,
you do everything in style......any visitor will love coming upon such a pretty sight as you in your garden among
your beautiful flowers. As for this fashionista in Texas it is slacks and a shirt with a little clip-on fan to
    keep the mosquitoes away.
    Hugs, Sieglinde

    1. Dear Fashionista Sieglinde, I think that you have it figured out. I need one of those clip on fans. My silks sound expensive, but they are not. My favorite silk skirts come from Ralph Lauren. When found on ebay they cost very little.

  3. Would have been lovely to see you gardening in your silks Gina - no mosquitoes here, but an ankle length silk skirt sounds divine.

    1. Dear Rosemary, You would think that our mosquitoes come from our pond. Actually, they breed and hatch in our Alfalfa fields. And as you might have noticed, we are surrounded by them. As long as we don't step into the field we are fairly safe.
Here's an added bonus. Because the skirts are so long they make an excellent bathing suit cover-up when worn as a dress.

    1. Hello Riitta, My silky garden outfit looks better without the person wearing it. Do you grow Verbascum in your garden? They are so difficult to find. I'm going to try and grow them from seed next year.
      Thank you for stopping by.

  5. What vibrant colours on display in this lovely section of your garden. I never would have thought to wear such and I would do anything to keep those pesky Mosquitoes away. My garden attire is usually just an older T-shirt with long sleeves, garden gloves and whatever pant that the weather calls for. If cooler a Sweatshirt also goes on. Hugs to you Dear Gina~

    1. Dear Mary, Of course any sensible person would wear a shirt and pants while gardening. You have the right idea. Living out here, in this small community, my friends are used to my unorthodox ways. Every now and then, I still have to wear extra protection from the mosquitos. About three times a year, when the alfalfa fields are freshly cut, the mosquitos come out in swarms.

  7. Dear Frances, I always look forward to a visit from you. I'm also looking forward to your visits to the Park. I know that beautiful Spring flowers are waiting.

  8. Gina, you must look so elegant in your silk skirt. I on the other hand am usually in the thinnest nightgown I can find. Living in one of the hottest most humid areas, I find cotton works the best but only a small amount. And it's already hot here!

  9. Hello Janet and welcome. You have the best idea yet and speaking of thinnest nightgowns have you seen PRIAMO's beautiful and thin cotton batiste nightgowns and nightshirts?
