Growing in my Garden

Salpiglossis  growing in my Garden

Salpiglossis are a cross between the Petunia and the Nicotiana (Tobacco Flower)

They're an Annual, grown from seed.

They prefer cool nights.

They make excellent cut flowers.

Happy Gardening.

  2. Dear Gina - your Salpiglossis are simply gorgeous and what a delightful mix of colours they display. There are so many unusual colour combinations amongst them - how wonderful nature is.

    1. Dear Rosemary,
I can not imagine my garden without these pretty flowers. They take everyone by surprise. I am wondering if they would grow in your climate. Our area has been plagued with very dry conditions. Me thinks that Salpiglossis would do well in areas where cool and humid conditions prevail.

    1. Dear Lorrie,
If I send you a good supply of seeds would you try growing them? I would love to see how they do in your climate. I think that the flowers would be twice as big.

  4. Gina, I always love when you post on these particular flowers - they are so gorgeous!
As always, at this time of year, I see amazing colors surrounding you and your home - making my heart beat faster and wishing I could be there with you.
Bob thanks you so much for the birthday wishes, and mentioning the fact he still looks younger than his age!
We are doing well and hope all is good there with you and Sadie - and that there have not been anymore unexpected visitors via bus!
    Sending hugs - Mary XX

  5. Dear Mary,
    My comment disappeared.
All is well, mostly. We are experiencing very high temperatures and water shortages. Even our drinking water reserves are low. I feel somewhat guilty that I have plenty of water from my pond.
The bus has not shown itself again but then I have my gate closed most of the time. What I do have is marauders who are tearing up my trees to get to the apricots. My two footed and four footed visitors are not as polite or as cute as your rabbits, etc.
