Something Old and something New

Just because it's old and just because it's new.

An old book with forgotten but now new ideas
and a new platter with a very old  design.

A very large Platter just out of the kiln this morning.

In a few weeks Heritage Day Celebrations will take over our town.

Visitors come from far and wide.

Many Artists will participate.

Some of the proceeds will go to the renovations of our historic Spring City School.

Hope you are having a great week.

Thank you for stopping by.  Your visits are always so appreciated..

  1. Dear Gina,

Your platter is very handsome, and I like its very proud bird. (It seems like Heritage Days was just a couple of months ago!) I wish you a successful celebration, with good returns for both you and the school.

    1. Dear Mark, We have two different events, Heritage Days in May and the Artist Studio Tour in September. Those two events keep me busy. Then there is gardening and harvesting in between.
When you go to any of the ceramic centers in Italy you will find this same bird on many different ceramic pieces. He is a happy bird and makes everyone else happy as well.

  2. Dear Gina,
you stay busy painting such lovely ceramics through snow, rain and even sunshine. I adore the blue colors in your design. Maybe after Heritage Days you will have more time for your flowers and vegetables and will be able to bring all the colorful blooms out of the greenhouse.
    Happy greetings, Sieglinde

    1. Dear Sieglinde, Blue and white with just a little color added is always a favorite with my visitors. This particular Platter is quite large and heavy. I have painted many different versions of this plate and it is always the first one to sell. It will be interesting to see how it goes this year.
May 1st is when the serious planting begins in our area and the last few days have been warm and glorious.

  4. Gina, the cover of the Poultry book is absolutely charming, and the title certainly makes me want to read the book!

Your newly completed platter is magnificent. Someone is going to be very fortunate to be able to use this in so many ways.

Best wishes on the Heritage Days celebrations. I do hope that you'll be sharing some photographs and reporting of the event with us. xo

  5. Dear Frances. This particular platter is also a bowl or it can sit all by itself on a table. It is also very easy to paint. Not everyone is interested in ceramics that are time consuming to create. So, for this Holiday celebration I have tried to paint a few inexpensive pieces so my customers can take something hand painted home with them.

The idea to make poultry pay might work for some people. The book suggests that both eggs and meat are necessary to have a viable poultry business. Of course at our house it is the eggs we collect. We leave the chickens to live out their lives in peace.
