Abandoned

Only a very short walk from my house

an old farmstead has lost its owner.

Only a few months ago cattle were fed from this big haystack.

A bachelor farmer lived here.

Look at the size of this saw blade.

He said he didn't need a wife
"because he had a woman (that's me) running through his fields every day"

Will someone take over this farm?
Probably not.  Farming is hard and has few rewards.

This fertilizer spreader shows how many years it has been dragged through the fields...it has picked up bailing twine that will never come off.
And the water tank will never be moved to a pasture.

The Danes knew how to build fine cabins.  Cabins which have stood straight and proud for more than a hundred years.

This one probably built by the same family.

The granary is still full of barley.

It takes a lot of equipment to run a farm.

There is order in a forgotten corner.

He will not leave his owner's house.

I have known  him since he was a puppy, now he barks at me.

Not to worry, a neighbor is taking care of him.  His brother has already moved over.

Have a great weekend dear Friends,

Mon Bouquet du Jour

And a little quiz.

This bouquet is made up of 3 different flowers.

There is the Forget-me-not.

Can you identify the rest?

Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Remember, Life is short try to live it to the fullest.

Friends are coming for the weekend.

Rain is predicted.

I was getting the survival basket ready for the guesthouse...it hadn't been on the bench for two seconds, when Pasha claimed it.
He is supposed to be an "outside" cat.  He pounces on every opportunity to be with "his people".

The old bread dough trough holds old and new magazines.

Clouds are gathering for more rain.
Our guests might want to spend a little time relaxing and reading.

Books can keep us company.

No matter how many times I have read them, there is always something new to discover.

I try to have books which might appeal to everyone.

You have probably read all of them.

This is one of my favorite short reads.

There is no end to the variety.

Some old books  are always full of "new ideas".

A book here and there for the child in us.

A book of Poetry by the bedside is a must.

Dreaming of far-away-places is part of a visit.

This book will keep you entertained for days.

Are you sure you know Shakespeare?

And, there should be fresh flowers.

Have a great weekend my dear friends,

Gina

Serendipity

It happens to me all the time.

Look at that Patina!
On the blue-green candles.

To make candles more special I often apply gold leaf to them.

This time I added gold leaf to the lower half of a dark blue candle.  And added a few dried flowers to the middle.

I wrapped the candles, two at a time,  into clear plastic and tied them with ribbons, ready to give as gifts.

And then I forgot about them.

The gold turned into this fantastic textural blue.

Even if I tried I don't think that I could duplicate the magic.

Wishing you a magic and happy Mother's Day day.
