No, No and No

I am not making New Year Resolutions.

I'm just happy to be alive

And happy to play in the new snow.

And happy that more snow is coming.

Wishing you health and happiness,
Gina

Downhill Racers, and Polar Bear Express

Ready, Go.

Polar Bear Express.

Plaques which have been added to my ever growing collection of Christmas tree ornaments.
Painted by my talented friend Sophie Soprano,

Also known as Lynn Farrar of Spring City, Utah.

The Honeymooners.

These charming Christmas plaques are details from Lynn's large oil painting.

Downhill Racers.

Lynn paints in 2 different styles.  When her paintings are signed by
Sophie Soprano  you know that you will enter a fairy tale world.

There is another side to Lynn, the serious painter who signs her work.  "Lynn Farrar".

Come visit her at "Sophie's Black Sheep Gallery" on Main Street in Spring City, Central Utah,

Did you go sledding when you were young?

Are you ready for Christmas?

New Snow

The fluffiest, prettiest snow fell during the night.

The pond is only partway frozen.

The tractor is still in the barn, waiting for the next snow storm.

Soon, all but where the water originates from, will be frozen.  At the Spring the water temperature is a steady 65 degrees.
It never freezes.

See that little dog in the right bottom of the picture.
That is Sadie, my Golden Lab.

In about the same place, six weeks ago, that sweet little dog, ran over me, laid me out flat on the ground.

Both ankles and one knee were twisted.
A cast and crutches are still standing by.

Wishing you a better beginning for 2020.
Happy New Year,
Gina

The Weatherman was right

It did snow.

They say that there is more to come.

I can now undecorate my tree.
I had to see it one more time, with snow.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

There will be more

Snow, that is

The horse trough fountain is without water,  the Christmas tree has lost its splendor.

Only a little puddle is open, the rest of the pond has frozen over.   The geese and most of the ducks have left.

Looks lonesome doesn't it. It isn't.

As soon as the sun comes out the world changes.

Have to clear the snow from the windows.
The greenhouse is heated only by the sun.

The rest of the snow has melted from the glass.

That is where my geraniums live during the cold months.
Some of them are more than 20 years old.

My greenhouse has blue walls...
they absorb the sun's rays and give off the heat at night.

Petunias are like geraniums, they never stop blooming.

One of my most favorite greenhouse flowers are the Nasturtiums.
They don't ask for much, a little water now and then, that's all.

Iceland Poppies are easy.  I make sure that I plant a few in pots so that I can bring them inside.

Many species of cacti.

In other words, I can have flowers all winter,
even if only a little petite bouquet.

Stay warm dear friends,

Gina

The Sun was shining, the snow was perfect.

 The Haflingers, "Hit and Run"

were raring to go.

Oops, his hairdo collapsed but he has no trouble seeing.  "Run" is used to having his mane draped over his eyes.

Jingle bells never sounded sweeter.

Almost forgot the horse hair plumes.

All aboard, Tennessee knows how to talk to his horses, and to his mules.  For years he has made little boys and little girls (and many  adults) happy by taking them for rides winter and summer.
Tennessee is our local "horse whisperer" and we are so lucky that he lives in our community.

Thank you M'lisa and Craig for providing your beautifully restored antique sleigh.

Off we go.

Haflingers, also known as Avelignese, are a breed of horses developed in Austria and Italy.  They were first introduced in the Middle Ages.  Their ancestors come from the foothills of the Alps of  Austria and Italy, the area known as the Südtirol.  Haflingers  are known for their energetic but smooth and elegant gate.

All Haflingers can trace their lineage back to "Folie" (born in 1874) through one of seven bloodlines.

Our friend Craig, who loves carriages and owns many, made it all happen.
Thank you Craig for giving us such a special day to start out the New Year.

The day after

It snowed all day

The only open water is by the spring.

Soon the snow will melt.

But before that, New Year's Eve will be celebrated with friends.

Champagne is on ice.

Almost ready for Christmas

Only a few more fun chores to complete.

Fresh greens and fresh fruit for the table centerpiece.

It will be replaced with a white rose bouquet at dinner time.
(Don't you hate to look across the table when a tall centerpiece takes center stage).

Lifesaver Garlands are still my favorite Christmas Tree decorations.

More and more of the "open" water is disappearing.

Early morning surprised us with new snow.

It's time to get out the cross country skis and pack up a picnic.

Geese need to fly south.

Friends are stopping by to wish us well.

That is  my favorite part of this Christmas Season.

May light and love be with you always.

Snow, the Artificer.

Adds an extra bit of sparkle to my walks.

Everything gets a dusting of pearls, white satin and crystals.

Remember the Builders of the cairns from last Summer?

here

Built by 8 talented brothers and sisters of one family?

Now their masterpiece is hiding under the snow,
waiting for Spring to come so that they can shine once more.

Clouds are gathering, more snow is coming.

Just in time to sparkle and shine for the New Year.

Thank you my dear friends for your friendship.

It snowed

It IS a White Christmas

Only a few inches but it's snowing again this morning.

Mr G is out working with his beloved 53' Ford Jubilee tractor.

He will be gone all morning digging everybody  out.

Later it's leftovers and reading by the fire.

(My friend Sieglinde sent me a wonderful book).

Are you enjoying your day after Christmas?
