Must paint more bowls

Large or small, it doesn't matter.

No matter how many bowls I paint I never get to keep any of them.
Unless they come out of the kiln as a reject.
That is the fun part.  I never know.

Some of my bowls take a little more time to paint.

Some are sweet and simple.

And then there is everyone's favorite, blue, blue and more blue.

I enjoy painting this border.  I make it up as I go along.  It never ends up looking the same.

Bold

Happy and easy.

Sometimes I even paint the outside.

Some hold a lot, some little.

This is still my favorite bowl.

Have a great remainder of the week, dear friends,
Gina

The countdown.

When I'm not vacationing or planting a garden, or putting up fruit and vegetables, or taking care of a whole menagerie of animals and birds.

I paint.

More specifically, I hand paint ceramics.
The kind of ceramics which have been painted in Europe for more than 600 years.

I paint because I have always admired this style of ceramics, known in Europe as Maiolica.

I paint whatever makes me happy.

Lots of tiles for kitchens and fireplaces.
Tiles I will never see again.

I get to keep the rejects.
They are valuable, but only to me.
I can learn from them.

These little jewels I paint just for myself.

I paint a lot of practical ceramics just as long as they are also pretty.

Some large murals take many weeks to finish.

Flowers and hand painted ceramics are a natural pairing.

An urn elevates and makes everything special.

New but painted to look old.

A little gold makes it extra special.

A "Tondino"  is a very practical and large dish.

Bowls are always the first to go.
So why don't I paint more of them?

You will see this happy bird all over Italy.

So many tiles I have stopped counting.

A favorite.

I can't stay away too long.

Take care of yourselves.

Never give up.

How many times will a garden freeze before the Gardener gives up.

My "Sensation" lilac froze this year but surprised me and rewarded me with a few second blooms.

Orchids will always reward you.  Good light and a little water is all they need.

The snow is still deep on Horseshoe Mountain Ridge...
it will be a good watering year.

My daisies are back after almost being wiped out last year by an overly zealous helper who tried to get rid of dandelions.

A new color of Foxglove?

Our little town celebrated Heritage Days this past weekend.

Many people came and bought.  My hand painted and simple bowls are still a favorite.

How is your garden growing?

The Party is over.

The people came from far and wide.

Several of my ceramic pieces have new homes.
Why is it so difficult to part with them?

That was two days ago.

Today it is raining.  What do you do when it rains all day?

Why, make Pesto of course.

This time I chopped it all by hand, including the roasted pine nuts.

Then added a little lemon juice and olive oil.  But no garlic.  Not this time...maybe next time.  There is still lots of basil growing in the garden.

Wrapped up and into the freezer for winter meals.
It will bring Summer right back into the kitchen.

You ask if there is a recipe?  Not really.  Only a few ingredients required.  Fresh Basil leaves, fresh lemon juice to taste, sea salt to taste, roasted pine nuts so you can see them and a good olive oil to hold it all together.

Have a great week dear friends.

Out of the Kiln

All looks good.

One never knows.

I try not to open the lid too soon.  The kiln takes about 12 hours to cool down.

This group of tiles, which I painted for a client, will be installed in a new kitchen.  They will be incorporated into a back splash of white Subway Tiles.

The next layer holds a few small items. Items everyone who comes  to our upcoming annual event, can afford. For the next few weeks,  I will be very busy painting ceramics large and small.

The last shelf holds one of my best sellers.

An opportunity for visitors to purchase something handmade, practical and inexpensive... my invention "Fancy Feet" foot scrubbers.

Have a wonderful week my dear
Blogging Friends,
