Happy Easter

Flowers

Always make me happy.

Especially those flowers which bloom early in the Spring.

Daffodils are so loyal.

Once planted they come back every year.

So many varieties.

Pheasant Eye Narcissus are still my favorites.

We are fortunate in that we can be with our family and friends.
With a little help from technology we can make it happen.

What makes you happy?

Happy Easter.

Let me begin where I left off.

  It was still winter.

When my life changed.

And then the first bouquet from my garden,

Easter came and went

Little Sadie, a Golden Labrador arrived.

She had me fooled right from the start.

Daffodils and Tulips were next.

Daffodils reaching for skies so blue.

And Sadie is growing like a weed.

Lilacs didn't freeze this year.

Sometimes friends, sometimes not.

A sheltered spot is still needed.
The winds are fierce.

Daisies are back.
The garden is planted. Another garden year has begun.

Take care dear friends.

You can be an artist too.

No painting experience necessary.

These are goose eggs.
Chicken and duck eggs work well.

Ostrich eggs are even better.

Goose eggs are rolled in a batch of water that has been spiked with 3 different colors of nail polish.

The secret is to use sparkling nail polish.

I used sparkly red, gold and silver.

Line a dish with aluminum foil.  Add about 3" of water.  Spike with a few drops of nail color.
With a stick or needle lightly swirl colors.

Quickly roll egg over surface.
Let dry on a stick.

Refresh water mixture when nail polish is almost used up.

Our Lola is laying eggs right now.
I will share.

Try different color combinations.
Purple, grey and brown look like marble.

Happy Easter dear friends,

Gina

Is it too early to talk about Easter?

It's never too early to get out the Easter Egg Paints

And paint a few Easter Eggs.

I paint Duck eggs, they drop them willy nilly all around our pond.  We also supplement our chicken feed with Abalone shells.  Eggs are not as fragile.

Maybe throw in a few golden eggs, antiqued to make them more interesting.

Place them into a bowl, hang them into a few forced blossoms branches or hide them under a cloche, on a bed of fresh moss.

And if you have a little extra time why not gild a few eggs.  I will show you how
here and my goose that laid the golden egg here

Paint with a lot of different colors and don't forget the important white.

They don't have to be Faberge eggs, just begin and have a lot of fun.

And with hand made chocolate leaves.

Easter Eggs Revisited

Our young goose drops her eggs willy nilly everywhere.

The lightly colored eggs are goose eggs,
the dark are chicken eggs.

The chicken eggs are hand painted with acrylic paints.

The goose eggs are rolled in a batch of water that has been spiked with 3 different colors of nail polish.

I used sparkly red, gold and silver.

Happy Easter my dear Friends.

Little treasures of gold.

The golden Acorn

So appealing and special for Holiday decorations.

My charming friend Sieglinde sent these extra special acorns to me from Texas.

We decided that we liked them just the way they are.

But, you have known me long enough to know about my penchant for gold.

A simple 2 step process.
It is the gold leaf , $12 (actually called metal leaf in craft stores) I use for craft projects.

The Genuine Gold Leaf  ($80) I use for more important projects.
The difference, metal leaf will eventually tarnish.  Real gold does not.

More information in an earlier post and a link to a more professional approach when using real gold leaf.

But I couldn't help myself, I had to add a bit of gold to at least some of the acorns.
I used a gold pen on the acorn on the left.  Not shiny enough for me.

Pour a little glue (specially designed for gilding, available in any craft store), into a small container and paint each acorn.

Acorns painted with glue will slowly turn from white to clear.

After about 20 minutes,  acorns will turn shiny and tacky.
You now have about an hour to apply gold leaf.

Lay on gold leaf and polish with a soft cloth.

Even one little acorn is charming.
And you have learned a new and golden craft.

By Easter time you are an expert.

Have a lovely remainder of the week my dear
