Almost a year later

From Texas came the Anabaptists and built the framework for this new house located in central Utah.

Built with rough-sawn cypress timber, reclaimed from a 200 year old barn originally from Upstate New York.

Built for our friends Gwen and Stan by
Heritage Barns

The beginning, July 2013.

Almost a year later, June 2014.

A lot more work to be done.

The original timbers will be exposed.

Where will these stones go?  A fireplace?

A handsome old tree greets the visitor.

A dream almost fulfilled.

Have a great remainder of the week my dear friends.

And may all YOUR dreams come true.

Gina

  2. Your posting induced me to visit Heritage Restorations. What beautiful work they do, and I'm impressed by the whole concept.

    1. Dear Mark, What is so fascinating is that you can order the timbers by how many square feet your plan requires. The young men who came to erect this structure were the most polite and hardworking group of men.

  3. Dear Gina,
It is great to see the progress of the construction of this home. I never expected it to turn into such a big house. I was so impressed, when you had a post about it last year, that I visited Heritage Restoration too. I particularly like the combination of wood and field stone in their design. The old tree is just magnificent.
Warm greetings for those cold nights in your region, Sieglinde

    1. Dear Sieglinde. When I first watched the construction a year ago I realized that this house was not going to be a little cabin. It's hard to tell, at this stage, how many square feet it will have. The building site looks very quiet right now but I will keep tabs on it so that I can post photos of the interior.
