Back Home

And happy to be here.

Lot's of work waiting for me.

It was a very good year.
Every fruit tree is laden.

Canadian Geese never left.
They are gorging themselves on fallen apples and pears.

Clyde and Lola have decided to get along with the interlopers after all.

Have already filled many shelves in the cellar.

Lakota squash are stored.

Love them all, flowers and fruit.

Himrod grapes take longer to ripen
Interlaken grapes were harvested before we left for Europe.

A few stragglers left.

I don't think that the little apple tree will make it through the winter.
We will try and prop it up and see what happens.
It bears delicious apples.  Don't want to lose it.

Time to admire the evening light and recharge.

Hope you are taking time out to enjoy your surroundings.

Gina

    1. Hello Janneke,
We feel very lucky to have come upon this beautiful piece of land. And being able to build a house smack in the middle of an Alfalfa field made it even more perfect.

  2. Good for Clyde and Lola - can't have too many friends!
Looking beautiful there at this time of year Gina - know you and Gene must be enjoying autumn surrounded by fruits (and veggies) of the harvest.
We're in Washington, DC this weekend - my b'day is next week!
Very busy here though, seems everyone comes to the city with their kids on the weekends to visit the historic sites, museums and galleries etc. Was blown away by the numerous food trucks along the National Mall this morning - must have been well over a hundred - and the traffic was awful. Good things we know our way around the city well - although much has changed since we lived here in the '60's - and could manage the busy streets etc. Hoping Sunday will be a little quieter - we plan to walk around Georgetown.

    Hugs - Mary xx

P.S. I prefer where you are to the noise and bustle of big cities! It was exciting when I was 20 but not now!

    1. Dear Mary,
It has been many years since we visited Washington Dc. I have always wanted to go back for another visit.
Will you still be traveling on your Birthday? Have a wonderful time. Hope you get to see all those places which mean so much to you.

  3. Fantastic photos with autumn harvest - delicious, A group of Canadian geese landed once on the shore of my summer cottage - handsome they were! Best wishes from Finland where the autumn has cooled the air and conquered all blooming.

    1. Hello Riitta,
I am so pleased that you stopped by (and all the way from Finland). Thank you for your lovely compliment.
Every day is getting colder and not many flowers have survived the recent frosty nights.

    1. Hi Maggie, Last year we had not one of our fruit trees bear fruit. So it was especially welcome to have such an abundant season.

    1. Hell Snap,
Yes, we are lucky. I knew our apple varieties by name at one time. Mow I only remember Red Delicious and Golden Delicious.
Clyde and Lola have been trying to discourage the geese from landing. I think that they finally had to capitulate.

    1. Who knows. Anything is possible. We don't know where hundreds of them came from. Any day we have at least 300 geese either on the pond or walking around our property looking for new opportunities. Now they don't even fly away when we go near them.
      Thank you for your visit.

  11. With the home you have, I can see why it's good to return. (I might be tempted to never leave!) My favorite is the shot with the grapes and the veranda - stunning with the light!
