Apricots

 Hanging in the tree yesterday morning. 


Made into Apricot Preserves this morning.  



There is only one tree in this valley which bore apricots.  All others froze, including mine.  



Apricots make my favorite preserves. 
I asked around, even on Facebook. 

Low and behold, only a street away, my good friend M'lisa has an old Apricot tree and it is loaded with apricots.  

It pays to have good friends.  Cherish them as long as you can.

  1. Lucky you Gina - I love making and eating Apricot conserve, but have not seen any at all in the shops so far this year. However, as a compensation, this week we made wild blackberry and apples from our garden into jam, which is also delicious.

    Blackberry and Apple sounds like a winning combination. I have lots of apples but no blackberries.

  3. Wow! Gina these apricots are just fantastic - can't believe you picked so many (nice friend) and made so many jars of beautiful preserves - what an accomplishment for a day's work!
    I love them too - and my mother always made homemade apricot jam.
    Getting fresh ones here is difficult - and they are so very expensive always.

    I seem to have missed a couple of your posts, and other peoples' also, which makes me think Blogger is still messing about. I hope they get it all together by end of month, it's tiresome now.

      My friends' apricot tree is still loaded with apricots. Wish I could send you a pound or two. Making apricot preserves takes little time. Apricots are so easy to work with. No peeling necessary. Wouldn't it be great if we could trade. Your figs and my apricots.

      You can't go wrong with apricots. It is also the easiest fruit to handle. It only took about an hour to do all 30 jars.

  5. Very impressive, Gina! I will keep my eye out for a good deal on apricots and also watch for the upcoming temperature forecast! Canning during a heatwave is not fun!
