So strange to come home to snow
I came from Blue Waters, Sun and Sand, the Island of Sicily.
Sicily is about Ceramics, a very original type of ceramics.
Sicily is about great food.
Sicily is about Sunshine, the Ocean and boats.

Every building in Syracuse looks like it belongs on top of a wedding cake.
And Sicily is about History.

Dear Gina, I have quietly enjoyed your report from Sicily, but when I saw the lovely photo of you, I wanted to join right in sitting next to you, enjoying a glass of wine with the Spaghetti con Vongole. You look marvelous and it is wonderful to know that you had such a good trip after the long wait. Even if winter came early, I always love to see the snow covered grounds around the Villa.

I can't think of a more perfect holiday than have you join me for a glass (or two) of wine and a plate of anything that is Italian. And, thank you for your lovely compliment. You made my day!
DeleteDear Gina,
ReplyDeleteSicily looks like a beautiful place to visit. Good food, wonderful architecture and scenery, and oh, that warm sunshine! It's so lovely to see a photo of you - Wishing you an early and very happy birthday!
Dear Lorrie, You would love Sicily. It's not crowded. Many wonderful sights so see. The most friendly people. I walked around in the evening, never having to worry about being safe.
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous celebrating with some wine and your fabulous Spaghetti con Vongole! A little distressful coming home to unexpected snow. We had unexpected snow but it didn't stick last week. Forty years between now and the last time we had such an early bout of it. No down tree branches like you experienced, thank goodness. How fun to enjoy that ceramic lady each time you entered or left your villa! That is a smashing headpiece she is wearing. You've sold me on Sicily! Whereto next?
ReplyDeleteDear Mary, Sicily is the kind of place that one needs to visit again and again. It is so different from the rest of Italy, in fact, when you ask a Sicilian if he is Italian he will quickly correct you. Where to next? Probably Umbria next October.
DeleteForgot...early Happy Birthday, Gina!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary. How nice of you to remember.
DeleteThank you Mary, that is very thoughtful of you.
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to travel with you in Sicily!
ReplyDeleteLove that photo of you dear Gina - you look younger than ever, Sicilian sun and food is so wonderful - we loved Palermo also.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary, Thank you for your lovely compliment. I always knew that 83 years old is REALLY old. And now I know that it is.
Deleteexcellent! Although I haven't been to Sicily for years, I recently bought a book describing my favourite places for a blog post. Which were your favourite sites?
