Very special friends came for Lunch
There may be snow outside, but my greenhouse always provides flowers for the table
My lovely friend Joanne used to own an antiques shop called "Arsenic and Old Lace". Joanne collected fine antique linens. She not only collected them, she truly loved them. Joanne would spend hours on one cloth making sure that time had not left too many marks
Joanne brought a large box of beautiful antique linens
So that I could pick and choose
And so I did
This tablecloth may be my favorite
All the while, a large pot of home made chicken soup was waiting on the stove.
Do you collect antique linens and do you use them?
Gina

Dear Francesca, My friends have always wanted to go to Italy. I will send them over.
ReplyDeleteDear Karin, I took them ALL. Could not pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity
ReplyDeleteYes, I have been collecting old lace for years. I use it all around my house.
ReplyDeleteI also collect Deruta pottery.
I love your creations.
If you wold like to see the Easter eggs that I have painted in the style of the Deruta painting, they are here at my blog:http://pwsnwjournal.blogspot.com/2011/04/easter-eggs.html
Yes! I was going to say take them all and I see that you did! I mean, how could you, in good conscience, pass them up?
ReplyDeleteBesides taking a class and seeing your home and grounds, please add the greenhouse to my to-do list.
Gina- Have you ever been to the area that Karin is from? It also looks beautiful.
Hi Pricilla, Your Deruta eggs are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDear Ann, that will be a happy day when you come this way and we can spend a little time painting. We have driven through the Dordogne region of France...on our way back to Paris from the Piedmont area of Italy. I met Karin through blogging. We have a few things in common and I enjoy reading her blog posts.
ReplyDeleteJust swooning over all this beauty, dear Gina!
ReplyDeleteand i confess, i'm totally envious of these treasures!:-)
Dear Lala, It is truly amazing what beautiful linens one can find that have come from all over the world.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzie, Thank you forvisiting my blog and thank you for your comment.
ReplyDeleteOh my, you had me at antique linens. I used to be an antique linen and lace dealer, so I had many and used many. In the last few years, I admit I haven't used them because I'm too lazy to do them up properly!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW,
Judy
Hi French Laundry, I am lucky in that I have a German Miele machine. I get to sit by the window and iron for hours and at the same time admire the beautiful handiwork of some unknown person.
