To paint or not to paint.

Is it an antique? Is it valuable? I don't think so! Let me paint it.

It was nothing special, but it was the right size, but so unsightly. Would a little paint make it more pleasant to look at?

A little red paint, a little gold paint, and a few oil paints squeezed onto a palette, several brushes and the deed was done.
(While the panels were drying outside in the sun, the rooster left his signature).

  4. Hi Diana,

When I was painting the cabinet I was thinking about your chairs which you painted early last
Spring. What an improvement! There are pieces that should be painted and those that shouldn't. But in the end "it is only paint".

Thank you for your comments. I love hearing from you.

    Warm Regards,
    Gina

  5. Absolutely beautiful! Did you have to sand it or anything before you applied the red coat of paint?

  6. Hi Francesca, I did not do anything to prepare for the new paint. Often, I will wash the project with a mild solution of bleach and water. I didn't this time because I wanted a not-so-perfect look.

After I applied the red paint I did paint the cabinet again with a very light green (sounds strange doesn't it but it worked). I removed most of this paint. It gave it the perfect antique look that I was after.

I have a lais-ser-al-ler attitude towards painting. Usually I start in the middle of a project, i.e., the middle of a wall.

Francesca, it is nice to hear from you, possibly, that means that your little boy is better. I hope so.
